Tricking a woman clerk of CDRI in the name of checking following the Loksabha election, two unidentified miscreants conned a woman of her gold bangles, a gold chain and a gold ring in Gudamba on Thursday morning.
As per reports, Vandna Parwani of sector G of Jankipuram left her house for her work place and reached Chuiyapurwa crossing to catch an e rickshaw for her office. “It was around 8 am when man came walking to me. He was talking on phone and told me after he came near me that his boss was calling her. When I reached there, the man introduced self a police officer and told me to give Rs 2,000 as penalty for wearing the ornaments in election time,’ Vandna stated in her complaint.
She further said the police officer told her that he was ensuring implementation of model code of conduct and will not allow anyone to wear gold ornaments during the election time. “I was scared and put off my ornaments. When I was putting it in my purse, the other miscreant gave me a piece of paper asking me to wrap it in the paper. I followed their instruction. After I put the paper sachet in my purse, they allowed me to go to my office. On reaching office, I checked the sachet and found there were glass bangles inside it. My ornaments (four gold bangles, a gold chain and two gold rings) were missing,’ she said.
Police had registered a case and an investigation was underway. “We are scanning the CCTV footages in the area. We hope to track down the miscreants,’ the police said.
